A Country Wedding in Braidwood

A Country Wedding in Braidwood: Luci & Suren’s Unforgettable Day

There’s something magical about a country wedding—and Luci & Suren’s celebration in Braidwood on March 15, 2025, was nothing short of extraordinary. Nestled in the heart of the Southern Tablelands, this wedding unfolded across two iconic venues: the historic Bedervale Homestead and the charming Old Anglican Hall in Braidwood’s town centre.

Braidwood at its finest

The day began at Bedervale, a picturesque estate with timeless country elegance, where Luci & Suren exchanged vows under the soft glow of the afternoon sun. Guests were welcomed with chilled Aperol Spritz and Lychee Martinis as the beautiful voice of Nicki filled the garden with music. Canapés were served on the lawn: delicate zucchini flowers, buckwheat blinis with salmon roe, BBQ prawns, and crisp mushroom arancini—all hand-prepared and passed with care. Each bite captured the relaxed refinement the couple envisioned.

As the sun dipped low, the celebration moved to the Old Anglican Hall—a beloved Braidwood landmark transformed for the evening with elegant tablescapes and soft lighting. Guests were welcomed with tray-served drinks before taking their seats for a memorable dinner service.

Entrées were served alternate-style: seared scallops with green olive salsa, hand-folded chicken and ricotta ravioli in a spring green broth, and a vegetarian option of burrata with heirloom tomato, radicchio, basil, and house-made pesto on grilled sourdough.

After heartfelt speeches from family and the newlyweds themselves, the mains followed—succulent grilled lemon pork with roasted garlic and salsa salmoriglio, wagyu beef fillet with gratin and seasonal greens, and comforting spinach and ricotta cannelloni for vegetarian guests.

Then came the cake—handmade by David himself. A stunning naked layer cake of spiced carrot and vanilla bean, crowned with florals from the day’s florist, was sliced and served as guests gathered for the first dance. It was the perfect sweet note to carry the evening into celebration, laughter, and dancing under the stars.

With dietary needs thoughtfully catered for—including coeliac, vegetarian, dairy-free, and seafood-free options—every guest was well cared for, from the children’s cheeseburgers to the final glass of Champagne.

Luci & Suren’s wedding was more than just a meal and a moment—it was a heartfelt gathering brought to life by thoughtful planning, incredible food, and the kind of service that lets love shine.
